This test page is for developing the basic design of the web site. The Practice Area pages will be based on the final iteration of this page. Other pages (home, contact, about) will have a similar look but their layout may differ as required to suit their content.
The photos can either be "slices" in a slideshow or "photostrip" showing four or five across. They both require some work to set up, and more photos always equals more work (toning, cropping, managing, etc). But the slices option will rule out some photos because the content doesn't work in a slice. Meanwhile, the photostrip will be harder to change if you ever want/need to replace any photos. With that understanding, pretty much pick what you like the look of.
The boxed areas of color don't have to be organized this way. There can be any number of boxes, boxes can appear within other boxes to form bordered boxes, there can be narrow boxes (ie, stripes), and so on. However the software is not infinitely flexible, by a long shot, and the more complex the layout is the longer it will take me to replicate the pages.

- send me the URLs of a website or two with a combo you like, or a photo of something with a combo you like — a book cover, a billboard, a box of crackers, whatever — or
- play with a tool such as https://coolors.co which presents you with coordinated palettes (just hit space bar to see more) and send me the hex codes from the color combos you like (or use the built-in sharing function), or
- just tell me if you have a general idea of color combos that you think are good for this type of site, or
- leave it to me ... though really, some guidance is useful.
